Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving

In a surprising crossover event that defies conventional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Disclosed

According to the official announcement, "A strange meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of banned ceremonies and fearsome changes resonate through the darkness." The plot features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden group.

The adventure concentrates on "strange experiments and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Changes

The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a powerful moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Extra Material

Players who finish the mission will obtain an unique katana alongside several items concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Update

This update also introduces the game's third free story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Partnerships

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that unmistakably echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
