Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after that period of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has won 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, including in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He defended 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
