Ten individuals convicted of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The defendants faced charges of spreading fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.

The court issued suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has yet to be released.

A circulating conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's biological sex.

Their legal filing contends that Owens ignored any factual proof that refuted her assertions opting to give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she was a teacher at his high school.

The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
